Snowshoeing

Depending on the trail conditions, snowshoeing can be an exciting way to enjoy the winter! The best time to go is after a big dump of snow makes walking difficult. Strap on your snowshoes or rent some at Expedition Shoppe in the village of Wakefield. In this video, residents joined local politicians and trail builders to celebrate the Trans Canada Trail's "Blahs to Ahhs" winter campaign to get outside and beat the winter blues.

Story Walk

Experience the trails in a whole new way with our Story Walk! Designed for families, nature lovers, and curious minds, the Story Walk combines the beauty of Sentiers Wakefield Trails with engaging storytelling. As you walk along the path, you’ll discover pages of a carefully selected story placed at intervals, encouraging visitors to read, explore, and connect with nature at the same time. It’s a perfect blend of outdoor adventure and literacy, making every step a journey through words and wonder!

Geocaching

Geocaching is a modern outdoor treasure hunt using a smartphone or GPS to locate hidden containers called “geocaches”.
Sentiers Wakefield Trails has a series of 20+ hidden geocaches on the trails around the Wakefield Village.  You will need a phone or GPS, our Wakefield Geocaching Passport, a pencil, some water, good shoes and a friend.
The geocache locations are on the www.geocaching.com apps (phone).

Trail races

Every year there are a few trail running races that take place on the Sentiers Wakefield Trails. On these days, the trails are closed to hikers. A few of the trail races scheduled for 2025 are Trail des Collines in the spring and BougeBouge Wakefield Covered Bridge Run 2025 in the fall. These races tend to be in collaboration with Centre Vorlage.
