Accessibility ramp to bridge at Fairbairn House

Implemented Spring 2024 with funding from the Trans Canada Trail, volunteers worked together to solidify a crushed stone ramp leading up to the bridge connecting Hendricks Park with the path to the Wakefield covered bridge. ​

The first person to roll across the new ramp, which was previously inaccessible due to the high lip to reach the bridge, was a grandparent pushing their grandchild in a stroller, proving that making something more accessible for one type of mobility user, increases access for other mobility devices as well.
