A new version was printed in 2018. The Municipality of La Pêche provided $100,000 for the building and maintenance of our trail network over the last 10 years, and paid for the printing of this brochure in 2018.
Trail AmenitiesSentiers Wakefield Trails are surrounded by convenient amenities to enhance your visit. Nearby, you’ll find essential services like the police station, pharmacy, and post office, ensuring peace of mind while exploring. Scenic and cultural landmarks such as the Covered Bridge, Parc de la Rivière, Fairbairn House, MacLaren Cemetery, and Wakefield Mill offer rich history and beautiful surroundings. For outdoor enthusiasts, Ski Vorlage provides winter recreation, while the Summer Market and General Store offer local goods and refreshments to complete your trail experience.

Points of Interest
The Spring Public source of free, fresh water. Tested regularly. Fill your water bottle there when you drive in or out of the village of Wakefield. Mill Road / Cemetery Road Lester B. Pearson’s grave is in this quiet, hill top cemetary along the trails. Turntable Park This steel turntable once allowed engineers to reverse steam engines for the journey south to Ottawa. While the train no longer runs, the former tracks have been transformed into a public trail for walking, biking, and skiing. Wakefield General Store Is beside the water tower. The Wakefield Bakery is beside Turntable Park. |
The Water Tower This is a water tower that would pull water from the river to be sprayed on the Steam Engine as it passed to cool it down before turning it. Public Dock For non motorized boats and swimming across from Expedition Shoppe on chemin Riverside Geggie Park Stone stairs take you into the river for swimming, beside a few picnic tables. A nearly secret entrance across the road to the left of the massive geological rocks takes you to the bottom of the yellow trail. Hendricks Park Site of summer Monday Night Concerts is on the hill beside the trails at Fairbairn House. |
Chemin Gendron Road Takes you to covered bridge, Fairbairn House, barn and old school house - that hosts an Escape Room. Peace Park The war memorial is here beside the river where the main roads meet. Community Centre From May to October home of Saturday Farmers Market. There is a Community Library and programming for folks of all ages, including classes and informal conversation cafes. It's also home of Wakefield Theatre.
