Merci beaucoup!
Thank You
The sentiers Wakefield trails are truly a legacy we can all be proud of. Your gift will help nurture, protect and enhance this national treasure for future generations. Our Sentiers Wakefield Trails (SWT) organization is made up entirely of volunteers – people who love our unique, magnificent Gatineau hills as much as you do. We want as many ways as possible to make our section of the Trans Canada Trail culturally, historically, geographically and environmentally relevant to locals and the thousands of visitors who trek through our hills every year.

2020 Fundraising Project Details
Project: TAKING THE TRANS CANADA TRAIL IN DIRECT LINE FROM THE RIVER WALK/GREAT TRAIL TO THE COMMUNITY CENTRE’S GREAT TRAIL TRAILHEAD
Description: This project is to reroute The Great Trail pathway that currently crosses Chemin Riverside at Chemin de la Vallée de Wakefield and continues along to the Centre Wakefield La Peche parking area and then to the GT/SWT trail head near the community centre rink. The new route will leave the River Walk/Great Trail pathway along the Gatineau River, cross Riverside at the entrance of Louis Rompre Park located on the south side of 721 Riverside, pass through Louis Rompre Park, proceed North West across the behind 721 Riverside. It will then proceed to the North East corner of the Community Centre complex at 38 Chemin de la Vallee de Wakefield to the GT/SWT trail head. This is where the Great Trail currently goes onto National Capital Commission land.
Purpose: This new pathway will provide a safer route for people to walk. The current route requires the TCT/GT to proceed on a narrow sidewalk on Chemin de la Vallee de Wakefield and then turn into a busy parking lot to proceed a further 80 meters to the GT/SWT Trailhead
